Program Notes

Inspired by the expansive prairies and foothills of Southern Alberta, Western Skies is a concert overture with nods to the cowboy culture of the region. Depicting the sun as it journeys across the sky, a musical sunrise is presented with lush lyrical melodies, before breaking off into a vigorous adventure theme reminiscent of an old spaghetti Western film.
